On the first evening of curator Dorothea Jendricke’s residency
is the screening of Parc Central (2006) by Dominique
Gonzalez-Foerster. A collection of eleven short poetic psycho-geographic
portraits of cities and spaces. The decision to show this film
may have been influenced by Jendricke’s current movement
between cities and a heightened sense of surroundings.
Day two, Jendricke invites Norwegian curator/writer Leif Magne
Tangen to present a lecture on a recent sci -fi novel he co-authored
with an improbable group of art professionals. Named Philip
(2006) after visionary sci-fi author Philip K. Dick and in keeping
with the traditions of the genre, it plays with notions of philosophy,
politics and religion. |
